The conference brings together experts, leadership, and veterans of Arizona Public Safety sectors including: firefighters, police officers, correctional personnel, dispatchers, emergency medical services and other first responders. Last year, over 225 attendees heard from such distinguished speakers as Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone, CEO of the 100 Club Angela Harolle, DPS Deputy Director Heston Silbert, mental health advocates and attorneys Chick Arnold & Josh Mozelle, sleep and stress expert Dr. Patricia Haynes, and Lori Robinson of Tempe CARE 7 Crisis Response.

This year, the Winter Institute advisory board, made up of public safety representatives across central Arizona, emphasized a need to learn more about trauma-informed response, de-escalation, compassion/work fatigue, suicide prevention, self-care and drug-induced behavioral symptoms. We hope to expand the diversity of our educational sessions, as well as add numerous elements of fun and opportunities to network and converse with like-minded colleagues.
