What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the initial help offered to a person developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate treatment and support are received or until the crisis resolves.

About this Event
As we continue to navigate the "new normal" world of COVID-19, many Americans are experiencing increased levels of anxiety and depression. Mental health education is more important now than ever!
Our goal is to help attendees Identify, Understand, and Respond to Mental Health or Substance Use Challenges -AND- to advocate for reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.
Thin Line Consulting is excited to announce that we are now offering Virtual Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) classes.
Virtual MHFA participants learn tools to support family, friends, coworkers and community members who may be struggling with a mental health or substance use challenge.
How Virtual MHFA Works:
BEFORE class: participants will be sent a link to complete 2 hours of online self-paced coursework in our virtual learning platform
DURING class: 5-hour interactive instructor-led class. All participants will need a smartphone or computer. with working audio and camera.
AFTER class: participants take a short survey and then receive an official MHFA certificate which is valid for 3 years!
Costs: $80 per participant *plus EventBrite processing fees
What it includes:
Access to online self-paced coursework through our Learning Management System (LMS)
Interactive nationally certified instructor-led class
Course materials including a digital manual
Online Participant Processing Guide and Resources
3 Year MHFA certification
Access to Local and National Resources
CEU's available for: LCPC/LPC, LCSW/LSW, LMFT, CPDU, RN, and Psychologists
Within one week or registration, participants will receive an email inviting them to log in to the Learning Management System (LMS) to complete their pre-work.
*This precourse work needs to be completed 24 hours prior to the VIRTUAL Instructor lead portion of this course.
The VIRTUAL Instructor lead portion of this course will be held on Saturday, March 30th from 8:00am to 1:00pm - Arizona, MST.

What Do You Learn in A MHFA Class?
According to the CDC 1 in 5 Americans will experience a Mental Health illness (challenge) in any given year. COVID-19 has exacerbated mental health challenges.
This 8-hour course will certify attendees as a "Mental Health First Aider" for 3 years. They will learn critical skills such as:
Risk factors and warning signs of mental health concerns.
Information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use.
A 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health concern or in crisis.
Available evidence-based professional, peer, and self-help resources.
Information is presented in an interactive classroom environment. Participants have the opportunity to use learned skills including the action plan through scenarios, discussions, and other engaging activities.
